WOW! It has a 1 GHz PROCESSOR!!!! And 1 GB of RAM!!!!!!! That is just CRAZY!!! Wow Apple, you've done it again and just blown my mind. ****sarcasm****
We used to think a 386 at 16Mhz was fast. And it was, when running older operating systems.
For the OS it runs, the new iPad is fast.

So you've used one then? I didn't think they came out until Friday. Also, what about applications? It's one thing if you can swipe back and forth but to run real world applications for actually doing something other than browsing the web......

If that's what you want to do then a tablet is the wrong tool, regardless of make or model. But I suspect you already know that.

And since the apps are the same and the processor is faster, it stands to reason that it is fast enough, since I didn't find the older model slow to begin with. By the way it may be a 1Ghz processor, but its a dual core, and the graphics chip is quad core.
Oh and I've been using an iPhone 3GS for 2.5 years, and it has a 600Mhz processor and 256MB of RAM, and it seems to run fine.
You have to compare "apples to apples". Tablets don't use the same processors as desktops, because of the need to run on batteries and have a decent battery life. But a tablet OS is also lighter to run than a contemporary desktop OS.
Or are you just an "Anti-Apple" fanboy, who is just as annoying as an Apple fanboy.

I'm someone that is annoyed that everytime Apple comes out with something, it's "So Amazing" even though it's not new and has been out by other manufacturers for some time.
Personally, a tablet that is twice as fast as its predecessor, has a better screen and can run 4G/LTE instead of 3G is appealing.
Have you actually used one?

I have not used the new iPad as they are not out yet. I HAVE, however, used an iPad (as well as a couple other manufacturers tabs). It was good for playing games and surfing the internet. That's about it, which is good for your average user I guess. I'll admit, they'll probably have the best screen available on a tablet though. But it's not like they are the first tablet to be 4G/LTE capable. Tablets in general are nothing but a toy. Maybe that will change in the future. But as for now, that's what they are.
I'm always confused by the vitriol towards apple or iPad. Just because you love using an iPad doesn't immediately make you a tech idiot, fanboy, or anti-Microsoft. To me, it's just another tool and one that I find very intuitive, easy, and effective for lots of uses ... It doesn't have to take over the world.
Take note taking for meetings/classes --- the iPad with an app like Notetaker HD crushes using a laptop in ease of use, speed, accessibility, portability. It allows a paperless process in a way that's never been possible before. Doesn't mean I'm going to trash my pc ... I just don't use it for note taking.
On the flip side, consider video recordings/tutorials/training --- there are many very powerful apps on both pc and Mac laptops or desktops that just crush anything you would do in an iPad. Camtasia is my favorite as its extremely flexible, very polished and well written/easy, and really speeds up editing.
Some of it is the portability and touch-factor ... Which is an opportunity for any well done tablet. For example, I now handle probably 90% of my email reading/responding on an iPad just because its so much more enjoyable, comfortable, and productive.
I use both an iPad and a pc all day every day --- pretty much side by side, but often doing very different tasks.

In my case, it's directed mostly toward those who insist tablets can be used as laptop or even desktop substitutes or replacements; that a tablet can be a user's primary or only system.
I am interested in the Apple graphics claim. I've read that Apple has said that their new A5X delivered ???4x the graphics performance of the NVIDIA Tegra 3.??? Is the claim true? Is the A5X significantly better than the Tegra 3? Is it just a claim to draw the attention away from the fact that the CPU is basically the same?
