Windows 8 showdown: Face-off on whether Windows still matters

Microsoft tries hard to accommodate the customer's needs. People have vastly different skill levels on the PC, so one size will never fit all. I'm in PC service, many of my customers admit they know nothing about computers. What is needed is a choice of dumbed-down to advanced interfaces to address this conundrum. MS takes for granted things that the average person is clueless about. Example, customers walk in, fire up their laptops to show me something on the internet without knowing they need to make a connection. Then I show them how that's done. I could go on, there are many other examples like this I face every day.

Windows still matters only if you need Microsoft Office or some other program that only runs on windows.I started computing in 1994 and I'm just a above average user but I would say they just keep making it more difficult for the average user not easier.I think Windows 8 will be a big bomb for them.I could be wrong but for me there doesn't seem to be any improvement there that I need.I will continue to use Windows 7 for as long as possible then switch to Linux on a computer that it's not locked out on.
