Sort of is not good enough
From some of the other comments Vucliriel has made, I don't think "sort of" is good enough for him. He has complained elsewhere in this thread that make me suspect that he thinks the latest version of Windows should still be able to run ALL applications that were ever able to be run on previous versions of Windows. Similarly, he has commented that he expects hardware vendors to be able to make new, modern hardware that will still be compatible with ALL previous versions of Windows. He has stated that he thinks MS somehow "forces" hardware vendors to make new hardware purposely incompatible with ancient versions of Windows in order to "force" users to upgrade.
Like is said before, I really don't think he has a very good understanding of how computer hardware and software work.
