I have no problem creating content in CMS's, and in fact, it's easier to manage in some ways (especially if you want to use URLs other than the file name, and menu creation is a lot simpler). My objection to the CMS's is indeed the management of them. Between keeping them up to date (which you have to do for security) and dealing with all of their modules, dependencies, etc. etc. etc., it's just a lot of time to invest on an ongoing basis. With static HTML, all I need to do is worry about my Web server itself, which is easy enough to maintain and needs to be done anyways.
