What is the difference between desktop virtualisation and Terminal Services?
VD is based on creating an image of the desktop on the desktop, therefore using resources of the desktop, while TS is accessing another device, in which case the bottleneck is the bandwidth availability. In case of VDI, physical hardware and specs makes a huge impact while in TS only bandwidth makes an impact.
Sorry, I just have to push my post '"Citrix? Wheh!" Or?' on inmaxmind.com: http://inmaxmind.blogspot.se/2012/03/citrix-whew-or.html
Hopefully it explains why it's good and how it works. Not everyone knows how and why...
@onyangochris; more or less same basics, isn't it?
