God I hope not. As Android brought the worst part of Linux to mobile phones (fragmentation), Microsoft should avoid bringing one of the worst parts of Windows to Windows Phones (multiple SKU's). But...even if Windows Phone 8 doesn't come with a desktop, it would be nice if it featured HDMI out (standard) so it could be "docked" and give you a Windows 8 Metro style experience.
I thought that Windows-8 was Phone-8 on steroids with ARM processing and an enhanced Metro UI thrown in to make it also suitable for tablets.
I agree with most of these predictions. But, primarily, I hope they add the capability to do a Calendar Search. To me, that's the most glaringly obvious omission from WP7.
That way, I can answer questions like "When is my next dentist appointment" or "When is my brother getting married" or "when is that software installation scheduled".

I think that many are hopeful predictions - Microsoft has a history of under-delivering on consumers hopes for new features. It may be done, but probably not in the first release of Windows Phone 8 - and many not at all for other reasons.
i am going to wait and see i have said in post befor that i think it will do well with to groups will like it .The young and enterprize and leave it at that
Windows Phone 7 used to be a solid platform and that was an advantage against Android. Now we have 256M devices as a clear sign that it started to fragment. #7 - better devices - is good, but it is doomed to add even more fragmentation.
What I dislike is I have had my Win 7 phone upgraded to win7.5. Had it for less than the 2 year contract and now it will become obsolete. Win phone 7 did not catch on due to no advertisement, unlike it rivals. There are countless apps out there for this phone. However MS failed in marketing. Will they do any better with #8. And will i end up with another expensive on the shelf because they decide to stop supporting it? Maybe they do these stupid moves on purpose. And they a pushing the development of apps for Win phone 7 like there is no phone 8 coming out. ???????
