@anjali189, the Mac never had a larger installed base than all Windows PC manufacturers combined (The Mac topped out at 11% in the late 80's) and Macs have never had quarterly unit sales Marketshare only a little behind Windows PCs.
In addition, the Mac OS never had far more software than Windows and neither did it ever have vastly more 3rd party hardware peripherals, accessories and add-ons than Windows PCs.
Back in 1992, it was most definitely not the case that 50% of homes in the USA had Apple products or that 48% of school kids aspired to owning a Mac. The Mac OS never had significantly more developers than Windows and Mac devs never made 6x more income than Windows devs.
All of these points are however actually the reality with Apple's iOS platform compared to Android as you can see from my other post below.
We have no idea how this is going to turn out, but at this stage iOS is neck and neck with Android in unit sales, iOS is ahead in installed base and Apple is capturing 75% of the profit share in the entire cell phone industry and there is no sign whatsoever that history is repeating itself.
