There are plenty of people who are starting to wonder if they should use Google. I have used GMail myself since it was in Beta, but lately I have come to think of myself not as a Google customer, or a Google user, but as a Google product. People should understand the nature of Google's business model, and for that matter they should take a critical look at all the web services with which they have dealings.
And as for Google search - aside from any privacy issues I think we should be asking ourselves if we want to rely on a search engine that tailors it's results to our known preferences. This TED Talk by Eli Pariser has really got me thinking about that. http://www.ted.com/talks/eli_pariser_beware_online_filter_bubbles.html
