Reply to Message

My husband and I both have Google accounts, I with Chrome, and he with Firefox. This works out pretty well, but when he clicks on a link to email someone, he wants to be in his inbox. How do I set it so that this would be the case? Right now, Chrome always opens to my inbox. I set the default browser to Firefox, but that didn't help, or maybe there is more I need to do to get the computer to really learn that Firefox is the default?
