I never used SkyDrive. However, I have had a Windows Live (Email, Messenger, ID, etc.) for a number of years. I was able to get the SkyDrive upgrade to 25GB. If you have a Windows Live ID, you should be able to upgrade to a 25GB SkyDrive account, as long as you have had a Live ID before the change took place. For instance, if you sign up for a Live ID today, you will only receive 7GB SkyDrive storage. This all only applies to the free storage option.
