Well I haven't got my hands on a Raspberry Pi yet but when/if I do I will probably try and make it run as a mini console for old school SNES games as it is only a simple device. Check out what the Raspberry Pi representative at the Gadget Show 2012 had to say.

I was able to get an order in the day it was announced "open". Feb 29th. I'm just getting into Linux and have decided to learn Python. I'm expecting my new toy within the next week or two as they are shipping now. Let's face it - this is a very interesting new TOY, and I for one, can't wait :o) I've already loaded Debian "squeez" onto an SD card. To be continued. . .
Haven't received mine yet, either, but I plan on using it two ways: as a portable computer containing all my classroom data (for in-class use and lesson planning) as well as a programming platform - Perl, Python at first. Our classrooms are normally outfitted with projectors and sound, so I can store my data - videos, images, text - on the SD card. I'm feeling a bit impatient!
We are going to place them behind big screens and use them for department dashboards without the need for a Windows/Office PC!
We ordered 8 for developing a "Swarm" of robots to think and work as a collective rather than independantly.
As a robotisist of over 25 years linux has proven to be an ideal platform. The Raspberry Pi offers an ideal base for embedding.
Also as a network engineer, it should make a good test base for a firewall design we are working on.

I am hoping to develop a media centre for home use and replace the PC that currently performs this function.
That was my original plan. But I'm a bit disappointed to discover netflix doesn't support linux.
Netflix needs the Silverlight plugin; I've never tried this with Mozilla on Linux.
So anyway it is a Microsoft problem with Linux.

Android, IOS, Ps3, xbox, wii all had custom netflix applications developed for their OSs by netflix. So I wouldn't consider it a microsoft problem. No such application was made or is in development for linux.
I'd like to see one developed for windows too instead of silverlight (which requires me to run a web browser and refuses to enable hardware acceleration on my albeit old, video card).

Properly implemented will rid us of vexing problems like Adobe Flash and Silverlight, quite soon, I'd wager.
Android not Linux? Hmmm?!

I'm surprised no one has extracted the program from their phone.
Agreed, especially after I went looking, and it seems XBMC has hooks to be a MythTV frontend, by playing files stored on a MythTV 'server' elsewhere on the local network. MythTV in the closet recording shows, XBMC on R.Pi at the TV.
Hi.
I think that it is a cool piece of equipment that is in desperate need of a properly desgined case taking into account thermal issues. When that is available, I will be able to place an order, but where?
Some USA procurement resources would be welcome!
Thanks.

Try Newark Electronics. That's where I'm getting mine from - or at least one of their subsidiaries.
Here's a couple of cases for you:

I am goin gto replace my aging media centre with one, and, if possible, use another as an extender to stream content to other rooms in the house.
I intend to use the PI to replace some very expensive digital signage boxes we have purchase in the past.
I have over 35000 Midi files and play my keyboard organ along with the band using notation software. I plan on putting the PI inside the keyboard. My main problem is finding notation software for Linux, and have never been able to play my windows midi files with the music programs available in Ubuntu. Any suggestion would be welcome.
Note: I am 75 and taught myself to play the organ.

I plan to use one of mine to build an astronomical telescope auto-guider to control the motorized clock drive on my telescope.
Since it is inexpensive, gets free software and has no fan or hard drive,
it's a wonderful computer to hook up and run distributed programs like SETI@home, Rosetta for 24 hours a day, or set up a TOR server.

I will port my actual "Home & garden automation & surveillance" applications which are now running on a mini-ATX board with Ubuntu. These apps are actually using on a Velleman K8055 board (digital in/out, analog in/out), several Teracom TC110 & TC111 with temperature/humidity sensors & digital IO + relay to control pool temp, pump function and waterleak alarm via LAN. Comms are SNMP commands. There are also several arduinos Uno with ethernetshield and/or XBee to capture greenhouse temp/humidity and control watering. All info is gathered in a Mysql database and in real-time displayed on a webserver (Apache + Php5). Monitoring & control programs are written in C and php5. I will try out the announced Gertboard with these apps on the Raspberry. Sofar K8055, snmp package, and C control programs were ported to the Raspberry and are running in test phase.
