Five uninstallers to degunk your computer

Have these 5 uninstallers been tested on Windows 8cp yet? And if so what were the findings on how it runs in the Metro to Desktop interface. Of the applications that I have ran so far, none of them are Metro compliant, meaning they look out of place on the Start screen. I think at this stage that Magazine Writers/Editors should be including this into their review of New/Updated software. The future of computing is here, and that is something they need to take into account when they give their over-all grade of new/updated titles, including uninstallers.

A repeat already. You people need to be more imaginative and stop re-posting the same things over and over.

The best program I have used for this is CCLEANER and it has been around for a long time + it does backup before removing registry data (if you want) just another free program that works well.P.S. Forced removal also.

Did you really test Your Uninstaller? Or did they just pay you to put them in the lineup? If you go to the site, you can't download the free version without giving them personal info...sure, you can make stuff up, but what's the point? I found it on download.com, but the installer wanted to install amazon as my homepage, my default search and it wanted to install the amazon toolbar. There are check boxes to not make the default homepage or search provider, but the Amazon browser bar has to be installed?!?!?! That's just a disaster. I would also like to note that you don't mention any of this in your "article". Trust is something you earn...not something that you are rightfully given. You, sir, get no trust from me.

exaggerate much? I agree it's lame to have to install the amazon browser bar, but let's have a sense of proportion here. It's hardly a "disaster," that's just hyperbolic nonsense

If you have to download a toolbar "IMHO all toobars are a magnet for spyware" why would you want it. I have to completely agree with RevoHos. You should not be forced to put anything on your machine other than the program you are installing. I hate that Big OFFENDER is Java. "Oh you have to uncheck the toolbar...if not I get it"

Go to control panel, click on add and remove programs. Find the tool bar etc. that you want removed, click on and remove it.

Those tool bars slow your computer and take up screen space.
Usually if you don't go for the automatic download, you have a chance to uncheck the download boxes for item you do not desire.

You should have specified that these are only for Windows. There are other operating systems, you know.

I hate downloading something and being forced to use an installer program. It screwed up my home page and gave me pop-ups that were blocked. So; I have to use my old program, CCleaner to fix a mess. TechRepublic's writers should check this stuff out before publishing a story. I am torqued!

How do I download it. I see no download icon.

The biggest problem I have with "crapware" is the cyptic names of some of the applications. It's sometimes hard to determine what to remove.

I tried Revo and I didn't find that it did any better than Ccleaner does by using it's uninstall feature and then doing the registry cleanup. It's also known that using Revo to uninstall security packages is not a good idea. The others all look like more of the same.

I doubt very much you have actually used these programs. It too forced AVG toolbar on my system, forced some 7 games crap. Tried to exit 7 games to uninstall and hit with a blue screen.
Please do not waste our time with this sort of garbage.
May be time for me to get rid of TechRebublic all together!

That's great an app that will take out all the stuff left behind from old program's, I like that because my old computer had problem's with getting rid of that sort of file's from programs that I had deleted just to find them not completely gone. Well this new computer sure is doing well so far but I have been deleting files off of it also and now wonder if they are really off, anyway that my story thank you.

I just hate getting pop ups, invasion of my home page and things to clean up when downloads. Are these tested at all?

Go to control panel "Add an Remove Programs" and remove whatever you desire. You don't need this junk....

I really like Revo Uninstaller! It goes deep into the registry if you like and it digs out the crap that almost every uninstallation (built-in) utility leaves behind.
