Aren't we full of ourself? Darwin's theory is based on biology, not rational cognitive thinking. The mere fact that humans have a longer lifespan is inherently anti-darwinism. According to darwinism we are supposed to die after our hormones drop and we are not viable to have children anymore - but yet modern technology has allowed us to live long past that point. Many an authoritarian government have tried to tie themselves into darwinism to justify their existence - including the socialist you mention. So if you want to be selfish and not care about anyone but yourself, then be that way, own it, don't hide behind Darwinism.
