A Logical Woman
To some, the above may be an oxymoron, to me it's what I am. I agree that women are more emotionally driven than men, but not all of us are. I have always had an interest in how things work, and how to fix them when they don't. Even at home, my husband leaves any kind of technical issue to me to resolve. I work in an IT department with more women managers than men, but the other staff are mostly men. I am part of a Helpdesk of which I am the only woman, but am the lead. There is a place for women in IT, regardless of whether they are technical or not, we have non-technical (female) staff members who are key to our relations with the rest of the business. If we in IT were all only logical-minded, we would not be able to communicate well with and support the rest of the business. I actually am frustrated by people who are not as logical as I am, and find that I have to change my communication style to help them but that's just part of my job. I have been in IT for over 20 years and it has fed my logical and curious mind well!
