This article certainly isn't. IT is simply changing and the old central control model of IT is going away in most cases. This is having a dramatic effect on the types of IT jobs that are most in demand, as explained in the final paragraphs of this piece. There's also a user expectation for tech products that are more polished and complete and require less hacking around to make them work -- that's the part where the geek era is ending. But, the point is not that the need for IT geeks is ending. It's evolving.
