A lot of my friends moved states away from me. Through facebook, we've been able to talk, share content and be close (not physically close of course) again. I actually use Facebook to reconnect with far away friends and even talk/share content with friends of mine who are still at home.

I keep up with techie stuff here on TR mostly, but I do venture to other places like packet pushers and rickatron's podcast blog.

So yeah Facebook is my favorite social network and I actually use it often.
