That solution seems pretty new and promising. Bookmarked and will play with when I have some time.

There are also other ways to "trick" Picasa to work with images stored on a NAS. Sole restriction is really that you cannot access and modify same images from different computers at the same time as the picasa database does not have multi user support
I have the links stored somewhere (cannot find them now) but do a search on "how to use picasa with a nas" and it should lead you right (although I think the "starter" is a better solution, although with the same restictions.
