What this article fails to discuss is the concept of Permanent Residents vs Citizenship. There are many skilled IT people coming to Canberra on 176 visas but cannot find work due to the security clearance requirement (which requires citizenship, NOT PR) for many government jobs. Something needs to be done about this requirement. These immigrants can actually do the job, all the government now needs to do is to let them.
