Stories of stupidity...
My favorite I think was this fairly aged employee who kept complaining to a colleague of mine that she was having difficulty with her monitor and couldn't make things out on it properly. So my colleague cleaned the monitor, adjusted the brightness etc. but she still couldn't make it out properly. So he cleaned her glasses. Problem solved.

"I'm trying to access a file on computer X, but I can't get to it. I could get to it this morning." I check the network, computer is not responding, ask user if the computer is turned on. "Oh no, of course it's not turned on." Of course.

User calls in a panic, tells me his computer went bang and exploded. This I could not believe, so I go and look at said computer and he'd received some cheapo CD-ROM in the mail which had disintegrated into tiny bits in the drive, "exploded" was a bit of a strong word but the CD-ROM drive was totalled.

I had #3 happen to me as well, but with a different game, I ended up having to block the damn thing using a GPO. And the user who insisted it couldn't have a virus was the same one who made the comment about the computer not being turned on above.

Anyway, I think stories about people trying to be sly are more interesting. Had a user who avoided the web filter by having his friend e-mail him the current betting rates, then he saved the file under an official sounding name. Also had various Excel files with official sounding names that were betting rates.

Got all kinds of stories about people doing dodgy things with e-mail, e.g. carrying on affairs and thinking that the IT dept. couldn't see them even though the whole lot was journaled, but I'd better not go into too much detail on a public forum!
