A couple of years ago, one of our users sent an e-mail to the entire IS Dept asking to have notepad installed in Outlook...she said it was critical for her job duties and she could not find it under the MS Office 2010 folder...the really funny part of the story is that I (yes the IT Pro) replied to all with an LOL. While we laughed it off that she wanted "Outlook Notepad" it was even funnier to have to explain how I "thought she was joking," hence my LOL reply.
Another user called the help desk to report an emergency..."The network is down and I can access the internet which is causing me stress." I checked my connection which was good so I asked the user to check other sites which the user was able to access....I told the user the network is not down, user said, "yes it is...I can't get to my Brad Pitt gossip site!" I told her I needed to put her on hold...I then proceeded to let out a SCREAM to which my fellow IT geeks responded to by laughing as hard as possibe (they knew this user), then explained to the user that just because one site is not responding doesn't mean the network is down...user said, "OK but please fix as soon as possible, this is really important." When we told the user that we'd let everyone know when the site was up (yes, I was being sarcastic) the user said, "OK, great but don't let my boss know." At this time we were fed up and told her that these sites were not "business related" to which the user replied "damn, really"? "Oh well, thanks for checking!"
