In some cases, I think unions in IT would make sense (especially for those on the entry-level side). I personally have never belonged to a union, and I don't know that it would have helped me. For the most part, I have been lucky with good managers and good companies. However, we know that is not always the case. Unions are there to provide leverage to workers being treated poorly by management and/or the company (or the industry). I think that definitely occurs in IT.
