I would say no, just because IT is not historically exploited.
In many other professions, unions are critical.. the best means by which employees can protect themselves from abusive company policies. The 40 hour work week, 8-9 hour days, overtime, lunch breaks, paid sick/vacation days, minimum wage, "benefits" (etc. etc.) only exist because of union members risking their livelihoods (and often their lives) for several generations.

IT jobs though? Most of the time I'd say they're already protected by the nature of the work.
