I just built a batch file this week to back up my desktop to the network. (Using WinExplorer is tedious and long.) I put in a PAUSE statement before the XCOPY starts, to make sure that all programs are closed beforehand.

That works OK, as long as the command window is not covered by another window. Using this tip would be an improvement by allowing the message to have its own window.
