Not just Apple
Most ads for consumer hardware show users doing frivolous things. One recent one from MS shows two people stranded in an airport, using their mobile device to watch what's on TV at home. I wondered why they weren't using the toy to change flights, get a rental car, reserve a hotel, or otherwise get out of the airport.
But it's not just technology vendors. When was the last time you saw an auto ad that didn't include the phrase 'Professional driver on closed course', or that show skidding cars? (Seriously, who wants to buy a car that skids?)
