I used tip #9; not with a QR code, but with a Zend Certified PHP Engineer icon. This resulted in a two-sided sword that almost chopped my head off: They confused it with the Zend Framework certification, and they were disappointed when I told them about their mistake in the interviews.

The solution: I learned Zend Framework, told the truth when they asked about the certification, and said I was learning the framework.
