Your character building is a bit reminiscent of the subject of this thread, Mr. Bradbury. The way you work the technology into the effect on the characters is in the vein of P.K. Dick, though you seem to be a bit more optimistic than the latter, perhaps more sympathetic to the former?

Good characters, dialog and flow. Also excellent insight into the effects of the technology you've invented. Keep hammering 'em out.
