Let's face it. The CIO is still the new kid in the boardroom. Best case they are viewed as noobs that don't really understand the business with a department that is a drain on the bottom line. Worst case they are seen as interlopers that don't deserve a key to the executive washroom. They should be locked away with the engineers and other technical types. Unless these attitudes change, the CIO is in fact doomed.
