Look at what you want to delete, place the cursor at the start/beginning hold down the shift key and click at the end of what you want to delete, check, press the delete key.
This is a whole lot easier, and quicker.

If you're deleting a few paragraphs, yes. If you're deleting dozens, I'd use the Replace trick.
In that case, either Susan's or my suggestion should do the trick.

But using Shift>select won't work if the paragraphs are not contiguous.
When I need to do this, I place the cursor in a paragraph with the relevant style, pull up the Styles sidebar via the Format> Styles menu, choose "Select All", and press Delete.
The provisos Susan refers to about being sure you don't delete something inadvertently apply here too.

This is another great way to do this. Thanks for mentioning it! It's especially good if you don't know the current style by name.
