That title comes from a book by the same name written by a scientist working on it's discovery. He did admit though that the original title was supposed to be 'The Godd4mn Particle' because it was so infuriating to actually find. But he apparently didn't think that title would fly, so it got euphemistically shortend to 'The God Particle'.
