I just had to deal with the same issue, only running cPanel. Nothing would tell me that I had to revoke the old certificate, nor how to, had to deal with what sounded like GoDaddy's version of the old piano lesson staple "The Entertainer" for about 10 minutes to get a hold of their support. Luckily the tech was able to diagnose and fix the issue within 5 minutes of conversation. Bloody Nightmare.

Automated process.. fill in contact info, fill in payment info, recieve verification phone call, recieve finalizing email link. Drop the private and signed public into the right file names and restart the webserver.

This is a great detailed write up of IIS 7 and ssl. I used SSL.com (http://www.ssl.com/certificates/wildcard/buy) for my certs instead since they were pretty helpful in past experiences. Also I used SSLTools Manager (http://www.ssltools.com/manager) to skip several steps you outlined, but I still had to do several steps manually. cheers!
