Aren't these the people who told us that neutrinos moved faster than the speed of light - and then changed their minds.

Well scientific experts at one time belived the world was flat and the earth was the center of the universe. Also as recently as the 1990's paleontologist belived that dinosaurs walked around dragging thier tails. In a few hundred years we will look at today's "modern science" and think "Were we really so primative?" Science is always changing, and as Martha Stewart says "That's a good thing."
Yeah they changed their minds. So what?
At least they have the education to know true from false.
Or maybe you tipped them off?

While I applaud what they have thus far accomplished, I think the celebration is a little premature. They have very strong evidence that suggests they have found/created H-B, they still aren't 100% sure.
Great achievement! However, the caption doesn't seem correct with respect to sigmas. If I recall, 1 sigma is a small deviation from the mean and 5 sigmas would be a very large deviation. This is illustrated in the graph, where the green is +- 1 sigma, a tight band around the expected values. Thus, 1 sigma would be the discovery and 5 sigma would be random variation. The graph is impressive - a good fit of observation to the predicted.
There has been a lot published recently on Higgs Boson. Actually the foundation of that research was done by another scientist couple of decades ago. His name was Dr Abdus Salam. Check the article at the link below
