For our loyal community members who are here every day, we especially apologize for the inconvenience that there will be no posting in the forums for 24 hours on July 10 (Pacific Time). We're hoping that this data center move will improve site performance in the long term, so that's the bright side. Anyway, I hope you'll hang in there with us for a day while we get this move completed.

Boy, was that short notice. I wonder how many have already logged out for the day, especially east of the US. Maybe someone will 'bump' this discussion back to the top just before the shutdown.

Relay our sympathies to the migration team out west. Maybe y'all in KY can use the time to clear out your e-mail!

Looks like a very complex task ahead.Hope it goes well.
Tech Republic is not going to "upgrade" the backend to AWS are they?
The sister site at ZDNet did that last week, still a lot of kinks to work through,
As Col mentioned, guess we get a day free of spam! Unless you enjoy the
canned variety! wink

if you were in my neck of the woods, I could fix ya up on the ice cream
and the chocolates! My little drugstore fountain works wonders, hehe...
and I have Sweet Shoppe handmade chocolates! Shakes, malts, floats,
and fountain drinks have been pretty hot items lately...hot weather!
wink
edit to add: Forgot to mention, coffee is still only 25 cents a cup! Free refills too. happy

The Different Time Zone that I'm in that is allowing the Posts to still continue. silly

Of course Jason could always have been telling us all Pork Pies and the Techs overrode what the Accountants said would happen. laugh

Col
Everything will still look the same. It's purely a backend move in this case.

and so are the spammers and zombies! shocked
the Q&A is only showing posts from July 5 and previous... tried refreshing
the page, still only showing latest Q&A as 7-5-12...will check back in a bit,
maybe an hour or so, and see if it is still heading towards a time warp!
Gotta love those event horizons! happy

I looked into this morning. The default sort is by "Asked On" not "Last Reply". Click on "Last Reply" to get the sort you to show newest replies from 7/6 to 7/10, etc.
There are no questions that are being displayed that were
originally posted on 7/6/12 through 7/10/12, Not talking about
"Last Reply", even that is not showing any questions that were
originated in that date range. I know there were questions on
those days, I tried to answer a few. Here's a couple of links,,,
www.techrepublic.com/forum/questions/101-393139/computer-went-dead-after-a-bsod#msg-3683594
www.techrepublic.com/forum/questions/101-393117/3com-courier-modems-string-commands#msg-3683076
www.techrepublic.com/forum/questions/101-393138/email-client-signature-with-confidentiality-disclaimer#msg-3683453

Anyway...not sure why those dates floated off into the ether,
just seems unusual! happy

No that doesn't work DE
HAL 9000 Updated - 13th Jul
I'm wasnt seeing any Questions posted over that Date Range either on the Listing Page or in the View More. If you have links to the actual question you can find it but they are not appearing in any other places.

Happens with IE8, FF 13 whatever, Safari Newest and Chrome on XP. IE9, FF13 whatever, Safari and Chrome on 7in 7 64 Bit Pro and the Consumer Preview of 8 running IE10, FF, Opera and Safari. I haven't tried opening TR on any Nix Box here as I seem to think it's related to the Site not a Local Machine.

Also when I log in with the HAL 9000 Account I'm constantly clearing the Cookies as that is just something you have to do. wink

But by the same token I haven't received any RSS Feeds since the Server Change so maybe it's just me. grin

As a result not many Interesting Questions asked this week either only got 1 so far. sad

Edited to add Well I am now seeing Questions over that Data Range appearing but if you are looking for one not on the First Page the View/Show More takes you to the Header and a Blank Page right now. Same happens when at the Discussions Page you click on the Show More you gat the Header and then nothing.

Col
Nope. Too easy.

"Baseline" actvities. Normal is relative. I may be a raging nutcase to everyone else, but to me I'm normal.

We have quite a goose problem here though!
number of geese of the silly variety who can sue a keyboard and go to TR.
But after the Move I've not got any Alerts for Discussions or Questions that I'm subscribed to.

Hadn't heard any problems related to that, but we'll check. Thank you sir.
that day. Wait! You didn't....Not like you weren't asked by a would-be attendee the day before. I'll catch the encore, I guess.
Pretty darned ambiguous, the way you left it (for those of us who HAD expected to 'have to' sign in that day). I suppose you were too busy to monitor your cautionary discussion, but I kept looking in for an answer.
You mean the whole place wasn't shut down to give everyone the day off to celebrate my birthday yesterday? How disappointing. Like when my son born on July 4 learned the fireworks weren't necessarily for him...
