PJs
How many times have you seen woman shopping at the super market or Walmart wearing a robe, pajamas, and fuzzy slippers with curlers in their hair at 2 in the afternoon? What were your thoughts about her inability to get dressed at that late time of day? (In reality she may have worked midnight to eight and is just waking up. But there is the perception.) How many times have you passed by a vendor on the street because they looked like a homeless person? That statement "looked like a homeless person" epitomizes how the way people look influences our opinion of them whether consciously or unconsciously.
Manyu people belive that a person who is externally messy is mentally messy as well. Look at how many times have you seen a load of spaghetti code, which the reflected the appearence of the author when you met him or her?
While we know consciously that appearence may not always reflect ability, subconsciously it does play a role in how people are perceived. Therefore, it pays to take cognizance of the way the world is. Remember King Canute and the tide.
