Try Localhost:631
I remember the problems we had when they made the print service 64 bit WITHOUT giving manufacturers adequate time to come up with new drivers. People went without the use of their printers or with reduced functionality for months while the drivers were rewritten. Hopefully the problems you encounter will be a lot simpler.

You could try working directly through the cups interface, open up your browser and type in localhost:631 . That will get you into the CUPs control center, there is enough help available in the system to let you get a printer setup, even if it isn't fully functional. Also if you have updated to a new version of OSX from previous versions you may have to reinstall it ti fix corrupt files. i know in Snow Leopard you can reinstall without wiping the disk so all of your programs and documents will be just as you left them before the install.
