Linux desktop in the enterprise
On the outlook comment I tend to agree it work with the infastructure that is there. And of course it would because all that SW infastructure is built to support it.

As for speed that is pretty much a moot point, the world is networked you can have a super computer but if it can't communicate in the world today it may as well be a zx81.

The thing alot of us techies don't consider is most computer users do so to get a task done they don't understand these computers, to be honest they don't care either. The reason why iPAD's took off amongst other is they do easily what most people want to do. Also for the last age people have been brought up on MS how many desktop users outside engineers have been brought up to use anything else. Very few.

Overall it a moot point you will have to re-train most of the workforce to move to Linux . Cost delta of O/S couple hundred of bucks. Cost of training, cost of staff not being able to do thing, work as easily as before, cost of other things going wrong ..... much more
