Directx correctly isn't the domain of an office product.
It is the domain of many a child or student who will one day expect the M$ product they know.
As for Linux being quicker and this is from a Ubuntu / Fedora user.
If all you can do is quote the time to boot as an advantage then your going down the Larry Ellison disaster of offering a million reward for proving Oracle was x10 faster than MsSQL.
In terms of Java and Flash which are just simple games windows unfortunately is several times faster. I don't know why but on every machine I have tried this is true.
I guess it has much to do with nVidia and others staying away from the opensource route.
My argument is that the home PC represents the future user-base of business users.
Home users are leisure based and at best Linux is slower and in the majority not even supported as a platform.
Its a reality I would like to see change but unfortunately don't think will.
