If ubuntu, then compare with windows 8
Since you are comparing the Ubuntu Unity desktop, do that with something it compares with, Windows 8 Metro. When I'm inside metro all I see is a cluttered desktop full of boxes practically all of which are totally useless crap. The unity desktop Ubuntu uses, although I don't like that either, is much more cleaned up and looks better, and if you can't find anything just open the HUD and type in what you are looking for.
If you want to compare a Linux Desktop with a current Windows one, like Windows XP or 7, then compare it with Linux Mint, where both, Mate and Cinnamon are great desktops compared with those of m$.
