You're absolutely right. Migrating to something new - whether it's a few users, or thousands of users - is a big deal. And getting a message across on forums like this is extremely difficult.

My whole message from the very beginning was that I thought it was absurd for "IT Pros" to say they will "never" upgrade. The problem here seems to be that everything is seen as either black or white. It's either "We will never upgrade" or "We must upgrade immediately." And, since no one is going to upgrade immediately, the only alternative is to upgrade "never." There is no rational middle ground to say "we'll wait and see what happens, and see where things are when our next upgrade cycle comes around."

As I've tried to point out, we've seen this same story over and over: "We'll never upgrade off of Win 9x!" "We'll never upgrade to W2K!" "We'll never upgrade to XP!" and so on. I especially remember how passionately the "IT Pros" opposed XP when it first came out. Now they can't let go of XP to save their lives.

There is also this view that either you must passionately hate Windows 8 (or whatever software is the current topic of discussion) or you must be a total fanboy/sucker for anything new and shiny/MS Shill. There is no rational middle ground where someone like your or me can say "Hey, it works well, it's not that hard to learn to use, it has some nice features, but I can't see rushing out to upgrade every computer in the world just to get Windows 8." That line of thinking just doesn't compute around here.
