You must have had a different Zune than I.
I took it out of the box. I pluged it into the USB I dragged folders from "My Music" onto the Zune and took it with me. I didn't have to install iTunes or some other restricive software. Just drag, drop, go. The Zune gave way to the Droid, which is just as easy,
