Despite a so-so experience with a windows 7 tablet - I'm in!
The reason I never bought an iPad is because I didn't want to have to switch devices in order to write an email of any decent length or edit a word document or spreadsheet. I got over excited about the whole windows 7 tablet thing and spent a silly amount of money (for a tablet) on an Asus EP 121 Slate.
BUT - I will be ogling the windows 8 tablets (might have to wait a while though) because it looks like they will have fixed the two major annoyances I had with the windows 7 slate - and they are nothing to do with the software or the touch screen experience, in fact they are very minor gripes overall but irritated the bejasus out of me.
Firstly - the cover that came with the slate doesn't support it very well when I wanted to use it hands free. I skype my folks a lot with my kids and the thing just fell over all the time - incredibly annoying.
Secondly - sort of related - the bluetooth keyboard that came with it is separate, so I had to both balance the slate at a good angle and go find the keyboard just to write an email. It all got too hard and I ended up just using it for websurfing - which I could have done with an ipad for less than half the price happy
However - the built in keyboard and flip out stand on the new microsoft tablets could solve both my issues!
Like many of the previous commenters, I just want to have one device that does all I need, and so far, the windows 8 tablet looks like the biggest contender.
