I agree with you. The author makes a big deal to point out the integration of Facebook in Outlook so I felt like I needed to address it in the post, but you're absolutely right in that a third party app doesn't really count for or against Gmail itself. I was more just counting up features for comparison. When you do that, Outlook just really isn't scoring well enough to me to justify a huge investment.
