I have managed to add the new outlook.com account to Windows Live Mail, but my old hotmail account cannot send any new email. So I tried to log into Hotmail using my browser to discover that my hotmail account has been de-activated. I can still receive email to it but only via the subfolder that was created within the new Outlook.com account. Maybe I did something wrong, but when I created the new Outlook.com account there weren't too many options to choose from and there wasn't a way to cancel once I started.
