I watched the landing via the live feed provided by JPL- Caltec. This achievement gives new meaning to the phrase "rocket science".

As a geologist I am making the bold prediction that, if signs of ancient life are seen, they will be in the form of stromatolites.

Incredible achievement, I'm amazed at the final touch-down using a rocket crane to lower Curiosity safely to the ground, that part alone must have been a nightmare of control technology.
This has to be a Huge first.
I await with interest for pictures from Mars.

Waste of Money

What a complete waste of money, I know there is technological advances that is gained from these type programs, but honestly, what are they trying to find? And what is it going to help us?

waste of money?

If you dont understand the implications of this then perhaps you should educate yourself first before revealing to everyone how ignorant you are. Name one social program where 10-100 times more money is spent that has contributed any inventions or patents to mankind. NASA receives far less money per year and has since its beginning than, for example, the dept of education (or most other departments), which ultimately does not go to improving students but a bloated bureaucracy instead. Think about this for a while....we ARE on an island with limited resources and a growing population....eventually we will need to leave.

Have you looked at the odds of finding something usefull in the galaxy, they are VERY VERY VERY small, why not spend the funds on sustainable resources, so that we do not have to leave our "island". Nature have a way of controlling the population and long before we find something of use(if we find something) we will most propably not be here anymore. So why not try and prolong our stay and make it as good as possible?

What an amazing accomplishment! Sadly why few seem interested in this country, those that are deserve respect. I, while being only a graphics guy, admire those with such intelligence to make the impossible possible.

I created a sticker for who can appreciate such accomplishments and can tell the world. Enter the discount code of nasa (lower case) and get 10% off, the sticker only costs $5,99 but I hope you will enjoy it.
