Bug #1
As much as I wanted to click yes, I clicked no.
As a realist as long as linux has Bug #1 to deal with, they will not make a noticeable impact on the desktop. Bug #1 being If it isn't pre-installed and on the shelf in the computer store, people won't buy it.
I recently replaced both our desktops here (both died) and so we "upgraded" to win7 which is not all that bad to use. I dual boot with Ubuntu, my wife is win only.
The bottom line is I would likely dual boot an stay mainly with Ubuntu if my computer had come with win8. My wife would likely complained for a while and lived with whatever came on the computer. Most people are like my wife.
Until a linux distro manages to get an OEM to seriously carry linux on a line AND Best Buy or whoever can be coaxed into having them in the store, linux will be a niche player.
