USB has worked better on Linux than Windows for me over the past several years. It had USB 3 support before Windows. The only exceptions I know to this general rule are some devices have proprietary driver issues and don't work well as Linux USB devices for that reason (one example is Apple devices; also the Blackberry that I used to have charged fine, but wouldn't connect as a data device).
