But it makes sense to Epson, Okidata, and Brother, as they still manufacture, sell, and support dot matrix printers. The initial cost is higher than a small office laser, but for anybody printing multiple copies of custom forms (receipts, bills of lading, etc.), impact printing is THE first option.
I don't know about the construction office, but I do know about retail support. My two largest customers still use dot matrix printers today: all day, every day. One of them experimented with laser in that application and went back to impact, because it was less expensive in the long run to print multiple copies with a dot matrix printer.
