I have to wonder about all the whiners who constantly say things like "I spent 10 minutes with Windows 8, and that was enough for me to know there is nothing good about it!"
It seems like every couple of days, another article comes out describing some interesting new features in Windows 8. Features that no one could possibly discover, let alone fully appreciate, in 10 minutes, or even 10 hours of using Windows 8.
I know, it was the same story when Windows 7 first came out. And before that, it was Vista, and XP and so on up the line...
I guess I just don't understand what these people think they are trying to prove when they spout off with such foolish comments.

about Windows 8. It's the Interface Formerly Known as Metro (IFKM) that most people complain about. I like Win 8 (in Desktop Mode), It's IFKM that I despise. It's clunky on a desktop. These tips contain good info. Keep them coming.
Michael, I applaud the depth taken in exploring the new Windows 8 Advanced Startup features. Kudos on a job well done.
Well, so much for the value of that tool.
230 or so systems. At one point, all were XP. I performed one or two OS reinstalls a year. Now a third of them are W7. I've reinstalled W7 on only one of them, and that was due to my failing to properly install our AV app.

The new repair utility works like a charm...had a drive die and would not boot. Booted from the CD and Win8 did the rest.
I have noticed that when I launch Windows 7 on a double boot system it sometimes looks like the machine reboots twice. That was a bit annoying, but maybe it was just a false impression...
I had a power problem today and the machine entered an endless reboot loop. After I fixed it, I just booted to Windows 7 and set the default system to be Windows 7 and the timeout to be 5 seconds. This replaced the Bauhaus Windows 8 OS selection screen with the even more Bauhaus Windows 7 one and, I hope, also prevented the same problem from happening.
Conclusion: if you do not have recovery tools handy, do not try Windows 8.
