Making the web more integrated with our desktops only means more web integration into our lives and our business. We need less web integration and more performance improvements as the software is getting increasingly onerous on the systems. With that in mind, the OSs need to be less integrated with other useless things that we can access through the browsers anyway. Nothing wrong with putting links on the desktop to specific pages. That's all the "web" integration I need on my system.
