Beautiful pics. Are these being uploaded at the native resolution of the Curiosity's cameras? If not, what is it? And are the colors being enhanced, or are these as they would appear to the naked eye, more or less?

I think they are enhanced
Slayer_ Updated - 30th Aug
I don't think the robot has a full colour camera.

-Edit,
Apparently I'm wrong, it does stereo and colour.
Direct from NASA:
"The Mars Science Laboratory Mast Camera, mounted at about human-eye
height, images the rovers surroundings in high-resolution stereo and color, with
the capability to take and store high-definition video sequences."

Mast Cam is a 2 mega-pixel camera with multiple lenses available (wide to tele). Most (if not all) of the images we see here have been color corrected to appear as if they were taken in Earth's atmosphere. Here's one of the photos in uncorrected color: http://www.nasa.gov/681384main_PIA16104r_malin03m100focus_raw.png

The navigation cameras are black and white.
That's cool then happy

Image 7
mike@... 3rd Sep
How come to top half of image 7 is in sharp contrast and the bottom half is blurry?
on my HDTV. I does "seem" smoother because it has to be a different geology. Different surface composition yields a dramatically different visual affect. I suspect the clearer looking surface is closer to solid rock, where the other is more like sand stone or gravel mix.

Gentlemen,

The next time you offer a series of such pictures please send us a link to a zipped ensemble so we don't have to download each picture individually.

Thank you.
