People are willing to pay more when they can be sure it will do as advertised and last through at least a standard service contract. No other brand can claim either the quality or the level of customer service that Apple provides with each of its products. The "perceived value" is a real value when the entire infrastructure backing that product is a part of that product. No Other Brand offers so much for every product.
